Our company was founded in 2012 combining the experience and resources of individuals and companies with over 100 years of experience working in Iowa and Minnesota.

Northern Exposure Roofing and Sheet Metal was created through the collaboration of the following individuals:

Kurt T. Tjelmeland

President

Kurt has served as Vice President and President of T&K Roofing and Sheet Metal Company in Iowa since 1987 completing roofing and sheet metal projects for such companies as; Alcoa, General Mills, Quaker Oats, General Growth Properties, Macerich Properties, Miron Construction, Ryan Construction, Amana/Whirlpool, Mortenson Construction, The University of Iowa and numerous others.

Jake Kienlen

Senior Estimator & Project Manager

Jake has worked in the roofing industry since 1998 working most recently as a senior estimator and project manager for projects throughout Iowa and Minnesota at Kato Roofing and T&K Roofing Company, completing successful roofing and sheet metal projects for companies such as; Polaris Industries, John Deere, Owatonna Hospital, Johnston Outdoors Minnesota, University Of Iowa and numerous others throughout Minnesota and Iowa.

Mitch Carlson

Field Operations Manager

Mitch has worked in the roofing industry since 2000 and joined Northern Exposure Roofing in 2013 as Field Operations Manager. Mitch has field experience since 2000 with all major single ply manufacturers and has completed major roofing projects for Sappi Paper, the Minneapolis VA, New Millenium Academy, Parnassus and Da Vinci Academies.

Pat Mastrud

Lead Field Sheet Metal Foreman

Pat has worked in the roofing and architectural sheet metal industry for nearly 40 years working primarily for Garlock North Roofing and Sheet Metal. Pat joined Northern Exposure in 2017 as Northern’s lead field sheet metal foreman.

Sergio Gomez

Field Foreman & Lead Service Technician

Sergio has worked in the roofing industry for 20 years with companies such as A-Plus Roofing and All Elements roofing. Sergio has extensive experience installing all single ply membranes including Firestone, Manville and Durolast membranes. Sergio joined Northern Exposure in 2013 as a field foreman and lead service technician.

Ryan Rosett

Field Foreman & Service Technician

Ryan has worked in the roofing and sheet metal industry since 2006 and joined Northern Exposure in 2017. Ryan works as a field foreman and service technician and has extensive experience with all single ply membranes.
